Kickstart: Igniting Potential and Catalyzing Change

Why It Matters

In rural areas like Anekal Taluk, limited education, early marriage, and rigid social norms often confine women to unpaid domestic roles. They have little access to skill development or economic opportunities. Similarly, youth from disadvantaged youth communities face unemployment due to a lack of basic skills, exposure, and confidence.

How We Drive Change

Kickstart is OBLF’s livelihoods program designed to break these cycles. It empowers semi-educated women and under-resourced youth by equipping them with the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to step into workforce and income-generating roles—primarily within their own communities

Track 1: Kickstart (for Women)

  • Skill Development: Trains women as community teachers and frontline health workers, building core competencies in pedagogy, communication, and healthcare delivery.
  • Life Skills & Empowerment: Focuses on building gender equality, mental wellbeing, and reproductive health awareness to build agency and independence. Financial literacy and Inclusion supports opening of bank accounts, budgeting, and independent financial management—fostering long-term autonomy.
  • Direct Employment: Placement within OBLF’s own education and health programs, ensuring immediate income, upskilling and career progression.

Track 2: Spark (for Youth)

  • Target Group: Youth aged 18–30 from economically disadvantaged families.
  • Professional Skills Training: Includes workplace readiness, digital literacy, English for specific purposes, and career preparation (e.g., resume building, interview prep).
  • On-the-Job Training & Certification: Combines classroom sessions with field exposure, expert mentorship, and industry-recognized certifications (e.g., Bosch).
  • Placement Support: Includes job matching and ongoing mentorship for real-world success.
