About Us.

We work for a future where children learn, families thrive and healthcare upholds dignity for all

One Billion Lives Foundation (OBLF), registered as One Billion Literates Foundation, is a grassroots non-profit organisation that endeavours to empower communities to improve education and health outcomes in rural and peri-urban Bengaluru, Yadgir and Raichur in Karnataka.

Since its inception in 2010, OBLF has been dedicated to driving sustainable transformation in peri-urban and rural communities. We endeavor to strengthen community-driven processes for better educational and health outcomes among vulnerable and marginalised communities.

Our work began with building English proficiency among children in rural and peri-urban schools.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, given the scale of the economic shutdown and the critical need for vital aid, we began providing primary healthcare services to those who needed it the most. Today, we run dedicated Public Health services, focused on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Mental Health (MH) and Geriatric & Palliative Care (GPC).

We empower women from local communities through dignified employment opportunities while levelling the playing field for children through English proficiency, self-awareness, and well-being to transform learning outcomes.

We believe in co-creating community-centred processes for lasting
generational change.

Our journey tells a story of grounded growth.

Each milestone reflects deeper trust and incremental change.
